  RECAP | BOX SCORE

BOSTON (AP) _ Dave Scatchard scored two goals 2:48 apart in the second period, and Kevin Weekes made 30 saves as the New York Islanders snapped their five-game losing streak and beat the Boston Bruins 5-2 Saturday night.

The Islanders, who have the worst record in the NHL, won their last road game on Nov. 28 at Boston. Three of New York's 10 victories have come against the Bruins.

The Bruins' struggles continued, as they fell to 1-7-2 in their last 10 games. The crowd of 17,565 booed as the team left the ice trailing 4-1 at the end of the second period.

Boston has won only one of its last 12 home games and have only three victories since Thanksgiving.

Marius Czerkawski scored his team-leading 15th goal at 4:46 of the second when his wrist shot beat Byron Dafoe to give the Islanders a 2-1 lead.

Dafoe was eventually pulled in favor of Rob Tallas, after giving up Scatchard's first goal at 12:05.

The Islanders peppered Dafoe with 20 shots in the first 12 minutes of the period.

Scatchard scored his second of the game when he converted a feed from Bill Muckalt.

Anson Carter cut the lead to 4-2, when he scored a power-play goal 26 seconds into the third. Carter leads the team with 36 points and is tied for the team lead with 17 goals.

Muckalt added an empty-netter at 19:16.

Olli Jokinen gave the Islanders a 1-0 lead with his third goal.
