Lindros misses game against Sabres

PHILADELPHIA -- Flyers captain Eric Lindros did not play in Tuesday night's 3-1 loss to Buffalo because of a sore left hand.

Lindros injured the hand in the third period of Saturday night's 6-4 loss at Toronto. X-rays taken Monday did not reveal any breaks.

"It was good to hear there was nothing too bad in there," said Lindros, who has four goals in his last two games. "I thought it was best just to have a few pictures taken to clear up any question."

Lindros, who complained that he couldn't grip a stick tightly, said he was hurt when he went to seal off the boards and the puck hit him.

Lindros said it was good for the Flyers to get a day off Sunday to collect themselves after an emotional two days in the wake of the news Friday that coach Roger Neilson had been diagnosed with a form of bone marrow cancer.

"I think there were some good things that came out of yesterday," Lindros said Monday. "We lost the game Saturday and at times we didn't play very well, but there were still some positives from it.

"Just having a break from everything; after the press conference Friday, and the bomb dropped as a result of Roger's test ... it's good to be away from the rink and relax."

Going into Tuesday's game, Lindros led the Flyers with 16 goals and was second in assists with 18 and points with 34.
